In order to keep the proper level of oil and gas supply a constant exploration for new deposits of crude oil and natural gas is necessary. Exploratory works include: analysis of historical data, analysis of geological data, seismic examination as well as drilling. Thanks to this, recognition and providing documentation of the resources is possible. Our company conducts the exploration of the deposits of crude oil and natural gas both in Poland and abroad.

One of the key stages of exploration and recognition of energy resources deposits are geophysical examinations carried out by means of seismic method (the examination of geological structure of rocks by means of seismic waves) or the examination during the drilling (so-called well-logging).

Our mission is to provide reliable and safe supplies of energy resources. Nearly one third of national demand for gas is supplied from the national extraction of this resource.

In order to meet the challenge connected with the energy security of the country and seasonal fluctuation of the level of gas consumption, it is necessary to maintain an efficiently functioning infrastructure, including the underground storage of gas. Currently, PGNiG is the owner of nine underground gas storages, formed in two types of geological structures: in the exploited deposits of natural gas or crude oil as well as in salt deposits (so-called caverns). At the same time the construction of new gas storages and the expansion of the existing ones is being carried out.

The activity of our company is inevitably connected with the interference into natural resources and individual elements of the environment; on the other hand, natural gas, which we acquire allows to reduce the emission of pollution to the atmosphere, which is essential in the era of global prevention against climate change. For several years PGNiG has participated in the trend of modern perception of environment protection issues i.e. not only limiting ourselves to the repair of the damages  done to the  environment but also conscious and planned monitoring of all aspects of the activities, predicting their influence on the environment or simply preventing the adverse effects.
